Apple’s New “iPad”
You would be forgiven for not noticing Apple released a new iPad last month, as its launch didn’t have the usual media fanfare or hype. The new iPad succeeds the iPad Air 2, yet Apple has dropped the honorifics and the new one is now simply called iPad. Released on the 24th of March this year Apple’s latest iPad can only be described as refreshingly off brand.
Why is this new iPad so surprising? Because it goes against the grain of everything Apple has taught us to expect in a new product. Instead of being thinner, faster and jam packed with new features this iPad is thicker, slower and has fewer.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch screen, an A9 64bit processor with M9 co-processor and 2GB of RAM. The iPad has a longer battery life and faster processor then the iPad Air 1 & 2 but missed out on their true tone display and anti reflective coating and also is substantially lower in all round quality then the iPad Pro.
Now you’re wondering why anyone would want such a device and that’s easily answered, it’s the price point. Up until now Apple’s iPads have priced around the same amount as most laptops whereas the new iPad is available for just AU$469. When you start considering this price difference everything about the new iPad seems better. Not everyone uses their iPad constantly or relies on it solely as their only device; they don’t necessarily need the array of features that are available in the iPad Pro. If you just want an iPad for entertainment or just singular operating tasks its perfect.
Apple has lead us to expect and want luxurious and over the top products and now they prove they understand economy. As this iPad is the perfect go to product for those who are looking for a simple, cheap and functional device.
The big question is however; do we at Sprocket support the new iPad? The answer is of course yes! The iPad is more then capable of running kiosk applications and it fits perfectly in our housing. Our Sprocket X enclosures range can mount and house the iPad in sleek and beautiful style without skimping on security.
Never have iPads been so accessible and Sprocket has all your new iPad needs covered.
